Support Forum Terms of Use

The Continence Foundation of Australia seeks to provide a friendly, respectful and safe place for people to talk about the sensitive nature of their health and to connect with other people who have similar experiences. The Foundation wants the hidden issues of bladder and bowel control to be talked about openly, sincerely and respectfully, and for information to be shared. The Foundation wants people to understand that they are not alone, that there are over 4.6 million people in Australia (21%) who have urinary or faecal incontinence or both (Source: The economic impact of incontinence in Australia, 2011, CFA and Deloitte Access Economics).

Continence Foundation of Australia wants family and friends who provide care and support to a person (young or elderly) with incontinence to be able to speak freely and openly and receive the support and information that they need.

Therefore, terms have been set out to help us achieve these goals and to foster a positive experience for those using the forum. The Foundation asks that you abide by these terms and that any persons in breach of these terms will be approached and the problem addressed. Please note that this forum is not monitored at all times.

1. Screen name/Username

i) Upon registration of the forum, you are agreeing to abide by the Terms of Use, which describes how you will use this forum.

ii) Only screen names will be visible alongside posts. This is to protect users' identity and privacy. If a screen name is not chosen during registration, an arbitrary name will be chosen for you; e.g. Anonyxxx.

iii) It is strongly advised not to use your real name or any real name or birth date as your screen name. Screen names should be based on ideas, objects or feelings; e.g. madeit, happyday or oilcan.

iv) Please secure your password so safety is maintained. We ask passwords not be passed onto a third party.

v) Only create ONE (1) screen name. If you have forgotten your password, click on ‘Forgotten Password'. If you have any further queries, email the details to forum@continence.org.au

vi) Screen names can be personalised with Avatars (profile images) and short profile descriptors. If this facility is used inappropriately, then it will be taken away from the offending user and a warning issued. Avatars must be in Jpg format and less than 2MB in size.

2. Appropriate forum behaviour

i) Do not post messages that are deliberately offensive, disrespectful or sexual in nature.

ii) Do not have arguments on the forum. If you disagree with an opinion, then you have the right to say so diplomatically and constructively support your case. However, do not argue back and forth.

iv) Do not send any material that is abusive, pornographic, threatening, harassing, defamatory, inaccurate/false or invasive of any person's privacy.

v) Do not make others feel excluded in the way you use the forum. This can be done by only choosing to answer posts by certain users and ignoring other users' posts on similar matters.

vi) Include a title that tells people what to expect if they are to read your post.

vii) Do not hijack threads by changing the topic of the opening post.

viii) Treat people how you would like to be treated, and show respect at all times.

ix) Do not reveal any personal details that may be used to identify you; e.g. names, locations, family and residential details, or how to contact you.

x) Do not post links to websites outside that of Continence Foundation of Australia.

xi) Do not post any form of advertising for products or services.

xii) If any material makes the user feel uncomfortable or is deemed not quite appropriate by a user, press the ‘Report post' button. An alert will be sent to the moderators and it shall be reviewed.

  • A decision by a moderator is final and shall not be discussed on the forum.

4. Personal Messaging System
