In a recent announcement, Jacinta Miller has resigned from her position as Managing Editor at the Australian and New Zealand Continence Journal (ANZCJ), effective December 2022. Jacinta has been a valued member of the ANZCJ for the past 18 years, and today we would like to acknowledge her contribution and reflect on how the Journal has changed over time.
Jacinta first joined the ANZCJ in 2004, where she was assigned the task of bringing the Journal up to peer reviewed standards. This included developing the policies, protocols and guidelines necessary for a peer reviewed journal, along with establishing an editorial committee. Since its inception, and under Jacinta’s guidance, this committee has now grown to include reviewers from Australia and overseas, which she admits has made things complicated when trying to schedule meetings across different time zones!
The Journal itself has developed continuously across the years, with Jacinta overseeing new front cover designs and the total digitisation of content into an eJournal, a transition 10 years in the making! One of the key drivers for the journal’s success today, has been the input from academics and professionals. Jacinta has proudly worked with Australian researchers from all walks of life, including some of the smaller regional health services who have provided papers to the Journal.
Looking to the future of ANZCJ, Jacinta is confident that it will continue to thrive and hopes the eJournal format will make research and information more available to a wider readership.
As she nears her final months in the position, Jacinta would like to extend her thanks to the Continence Foundation for the opportunity to work on the ANZCJ and is excited to see what a fresh new perspective will bring to the publication in future. Please join us in thanking Jacinta for her valued contribution and wishing her all the best in her next role.
