A New Era of Awareness and Support
Media release February 2025
Continence Health Australia (CHA) is the refreshed name for Australia’s peak body for incontinence health care, formerly the Continence Foundation of Australia.
The new logo and name launch a new era of national leadership to improve continence health care for all affected by this silent, stigmatised health condition.
One in four Australians experience incontinence. Bladder and bowel incontinence affects people of all ages, children, young people, new mothers, sport-active adults, men and women throughout adulthood and in older age.
CHA Chair of the Board Elizabeth Compton said the updated logo aims to elevate public and health services awareness of the importance of pro-active continence health care right across the age range and for people in every culture and community.
“Too many people are left to live with significant restrictions because of poorly managed incontinence”, Ms Compton said.
“More than 70 per cent of people with incontinence are under 65 years old. They can lose almost nine days of work each year because of this health condition and 13 per cent of respondents to a survey said they needed to see a mental health professional as a result of their incontinence.”
“Our organisation has been working for 36 years to improve the care of people with incontinence.”
Continence Health Australia brings together health professionals and consumers to build awareness and inform and influence health policy and services to drive better care.
“The vibrant orange of our new logo modernises our image and signals that CHA is committed to making continence health a much more visible health concern than it currently is”, Ms Compton Said
“As we actively work to enhance the services that are needed for people with incontinence, we invite everyone in Australia to join us in learning more about continence health. We are dedicated to our mission and are always willing to be bold and creative in raising awareness and creating change,” added Ms Compton.
CHA operates The National Continence Helpline 1800 33 00 66 that is staffed by Nurse Continence Specialists who offer free and confidential information, advice and support to people affected by incontinence.
